Bandia Reserve Senegal: Prices, Tips & How to Visit Without Overpaying

The Bandia Reserve, located between Dakar and Saly, is one of the most visited sites in Senegal. Giraffes, zebras, buffalo, rhinoceroses, antelopes, and numerous birds can be seen there. It is easily accessible from the main tourist areas of the Petite Côte.

Many visitors book expensive excursions when it is quite possible to visit Bandia on your own, more easily and for much less money.

Why do many visitors pay too much?

Many travelers buy excursions costing between €45 and €80. In reality, you can simply arrive at the entrance to Bandia and pay for your tickets directly. It's more economical and more flexible.

How to Get to Bandia Reserve from Dakar or Saly

From Dakar, Saly, Mbour, Ngaparou or La Somone, a taxi can drop you off at the entrance. It's usually cheaper than an organized tour.

Another advantage: some taxis agree to serve as vehicles for the tour, which avoids having to rent a 4x4 locally.

Do You Need a Guide at Bandia Reserve?

There is no need to book or pay for an external guide. The official Bandia guides work in the reserve, their rates are fixed and displayed, which avoids any surprises.

Do You Need a 4x4 to Visit Bandia Reserve?

You have three options:

  1. Use your own car or a taxi.

  2. Rent a 4x4 safari vehicle on site.
